Not Lenny's first show went pretty well. A few bumps here and there that need some smoothing out. I will definately need either a floor monitor or an in-ear monitor for my vocals. And one more thing, I need a friggin roadie. Loading up a Marshall 4x12 cab, Marshall head, Peavy 2x12 combo amp, two guitars and other misc equipment into my little 1989 Ford Escort is more than a pain in the ass. But none the less, I forgot how much fun it is to play live. I guess it is fitting that I am in the band now, working my ass off to get some gigs booked and stuff.
In the meantime, I am sitting here, typing for you y'aal, listening to my newest addition to my record collection, PUMP by Aerosmith. I also bought LIVE FROM URANUS by LTJ. Totally rare and sweet Japanese import that I spotted at our local used record store. It's so friggin awesome. I seriously aspire for their level of live chops. Actually, them and The Donna's. Yes I know, they arent all that great. But man, they play very precisely live. Very in tune with each other both musically and dynamically. I guess I just need to get more shows under my belt to (a) get used to my equipment in a live setting, (b) get a groove going with the rest of the band.
Other than the band, things are pretty good. I am back in school now, with (thankfully) a full load of credits. I had to crash a lot of classes, but I have a pretty enriching schedule now. Ancient European Lit, American Lit 1865-1910, Intermediate Karate, Math Logic, and Worlds Of Jazz. Sweet... I have been running into tons of OG's around SJSU, which is always cool cuz it keeps me from being bored in between classes. Besides school, Caitlin and I are doing great. The move back to Milpitas has made seeing each other a little harder, but its not bad at all. Totally worth the drive. Although, I have noticed an increasing trend on how many highways I have to drive to see each girl I date. Taralyn took two, Emily took three, Caitlin takes four. Its only 17 miles, not bad at all.
I must say, I cannot wait for rehearsal to begin for Hello Dolly. I am really eager to get on stage and try this whole musical theatre thing out full throttle. I have dabbled in the past, but now it is time to dive in head first. I just hope I can hold my own with this. It is going to be great to work with such talented people. Speaking of talented; HUGE CONGRATS to Caitlin for getting phat role in Ohlone's production of Dracula. She gets to fly, have huge fangs, and gets her head cut off. Pretty sweet if you ask me. I am so proud of her.
Well ladies and gentlemen, it is time for this little farmer to start his day. Have a great one everybody. Peace...

Damn, Not Lenny rolls on! Went to another show at the Gasligher and passed out about 50 copies of the CD. This time I was awesomely aided by Nick, Keegan, Frankie and Caitlin. For the first time since ending recording a few months ago, it felt like an entire band. We are playing at Jessica G's party on Friday, which I am TOTALLY stoked about. Can't wait. As for today, cleaning, practicing with Nick, pressing at another show, then hanging with MEL! She has been gone for the past week. God, has it been that long??? Peace...

Burned... so burned. Damn.... burrrrrrrrned. Wow....
Lollapallooza was sick. Absolutely amazing. All the bands were incredible. Rooney opened strong with their interesting blend of old school punk, British blues-rock, and retro rock. Then the Donna's came on hard. Gotta love the guitarist running three Marshall AVT Halfies. Very nice. Followed by Jurassic 5, (sick beats), A Perfect Circle (strong but I have seen better. Maynard is TIGHT though). Then, for a little change... I was up on the lawn for those first few acts. But then, thanks to Jessica G, I got some seats with her down in front nearer to the stage. This vantage point was INCREDIBLE for seeing Incubus, Audioslave and Jane's Addiction. All three of them put on legendary performances. Incubus was so strong, I honestly wish I could have a band that was so in tune with each other. Audioslave.... wow... ummm. No words. Rocked harder than I have ever seen. During the set, Chris Cornell started playing some acoustic songs. During one of them, shock of shocks, Maynard (the reclusive singer of APC and Tool who hates to have his face shown) comes out, in PLAIN VIEW and sings with Chris. Very rare indeed. Not to be outdone, Brandon from Incubus came out and sang Jane Says with Jane's Addiction. So, all in all, an incredible day. I got a henna tattoo on my arm, a new ear cuff, and hopefully a tan (once the burn settles down a bit.
And it is official. I am in the cast for Hello Dolly! Rock. I got ensemble and I am also a waiter for the Harmonia Gardens scene. Coolness. Farther than I expected considering this is my first time in musical theatre. Even cooler that I almost got to be Cornelius. So yeah, a RARE pat on the back for me! In a related tangent, a fellow cast member, (hehe...... member.) searched my name on google and found this site. His name is Derrick and he will be a waiter as well. Cool guy as far as I can tell. (ha, I'm a poet and I don't know it) If he approves, I am going to post the link to HIS blog tomorrow. Well anyways, gotta go shower and nurse this horrid sunburn. Hope you all are having a good tail end of summer. Email me, lemme know what yaal are up to. Peace...
p.s. Kat couldn't come out to Cali cuz of the whole east coast power outage dealie. sorry kat!

Good morning everyone. Today is going to be a rather full day indeed. Recording some guitar with Dave, seeing Caitlin, then working 6:30pm-1am at the Los Gatos Starbucks. Im just happy as hell that I won't be at my store. I need a little change of pace. Well, back tracking to yesterday...
Busy day, well sort of. I just slept a lot, got some sun, went to the post office, talked to Hannah. Then it was off to Santa Cruz to have dinner with the ladies, then back home to nurse their sunburn and help Caitlin pack for her moving back to Milpitas. I will admit I am a little sad that she doesn't live 2 blocks away anymore. But we will be just fine. So after saying goodnight, I jammed on home. Upon my arrival, I noticed several drunken teenagers stumbling about my street, one of which had just been vomiting in front of my house. Evidently, a neighbor of mine, a former close friend, was having a party. Well, his friends were being way too loud, and of course the afforementioned cookie-tossing in front of my own domicile sure didn't sit to well with myself and my brother. So, he called the cops. The police roll up about 20 minutes later. The car drives by slowly, then turns back and blocks the street. The officer steps out of the car and walks up to an Acura that is parked directly in front of my window. (First row seat... ha). Two kids step out of the car, obviously suprised that their attempt to lean back in the seats and hide was thwarted by San Jose's finest. He escorts them back to the kids house. About 10 mins later, I hear running footsteps. I guess some kid must have took off running, because the cop hoofed it back to his car, and took off up my street. As Emily and I have always said, "Never run". Well, unless you are in the woods of UCSC and could actually get away. Right Em?
Well everyone, I am off to begin my day. Peace...

Boy howdy everyone... Hella fun night last night. Went out with Caitlin to Santa Cruz and did the whole nine yards over there. Beach, dinner, rollercoasters. Then it was off to jacuzzi and watch the meteor shower. Very nice. I must say, fun fun fun. Great evening and I really didn't want it to end. But hey...
Esker hath returned! So I am off to drop him a copy of the NOT LENNY Demo. Again, check out the site link on the left. Peace!

Hey hey, everyone. Back in the driver's seat again after a nine day hiatus. Feels good. It has been a very busy time for yours truly. The 3-track from NOT LENNY is now finished and in distribution. Check out the site for more info. Or just email me if you want a copy. It sounds great, but it isn't quite perfect. But... we are going to remaster and re-edit it when we do the full album. It is fucking sick though. For those of you who aren't friends of mine and are just cruising through... Not Lenny is my punk/ska group. So if you are interested in getting a copy, or even getting a file via email with the songs, email me. Ok, so what else... hmmmm, ahh yes.
Like I may have mentioned before, I had been preparing for an audition for a musical with WVLO. Yes, the same company that did George M!. I thought, "Hey, this is my first time out. I'll get ensemble or something really small like that." BUT NO!! "Holy cabooses"... I got a call back for two roles; Cornellius and Barnaby. So, I went back for call backs. They have a dead ringer for Barnaby. So I won't be getting my hopes up on that. But, it is between myself and one other guy for Cornellius. So we will have to see. I would say it is a dead heat between us. Wish me luck, I find out this week...
Other than that, I have been spending time with Caitlin, Mel ("damn teamsters"), Nick and Dave. And spending a lot of time working promotion for Not Lenny. I passed out about 100 copies of the demo last night at the Alkaline Trio show in Palo Alto. I met some awesome peeps who seemed really into ska. So we will have to see what they think. Even cooler was I got a free ticket from some chick to get in. Hell yeah. So, free show, cool peeps, networking with other musicians, and my official welcome back into the local scene. Great nite.
Well, you may have noticed I havent mentioned Starbucks. Thats because Elva hasnt scheduled me at all this week. I did manage to procure a shift for today. Short as it may be, it is still money. But hey. I have to fly. Please check out the Not Lenny page, and ask for a CD by EMAILING ME!!! Peace...

Hey everyone. Time to release...
I will admit to you all ladies and gentlemen, The Farmer is feeling a tad bit down today. With it being August first, the end of summer is officially in sight. And what a summer it has been. If you have been reading over the past 6-8 weeks, then you know all too well that I have been in the wonderful company of two ladies this summer, Caitlin and Melanie. Caitlin is my fastastic girlfriend whos company I have enjoyed immensely. Melanie was an aquaintence in middle school who has now become one of my best friends. I have spent a great deal of time with the both of them. If I am not with one, I am with the other, and I am often with both. I have bared my soul to them, worked with them, laughed with them, got drunk with them, and spent many an hour just being with them. And now, change is in the wind. Melanie will be heading off to England for the next semester, and Caitlin will be moving back to her home in Milpitas. I am going to miss Mel immensely. The long hours of witty banter, big words, and just the sheer enjoyment of my time with her will be dearly missed. Caitlin and I plan on staying together, so that won't be too much of a problem. I will miss my late nights of movies and swimming and everything else summer related with her. But hey, it isnt the end of us, we will just be playing against a slightly different backdrop.
The root of all of this lies in the geography. I will be going from having a best friend and my girlfriend living two blocks from me, to having one at the other end of town, and one at the other end of the world. Yes, it has spoiled me to be able to just see them basically whenever the hell I want. It has also touched me in a rather deep way about how serendipitous this summer has been. This mere shadow of a person from my past now becoming someone I will truly miss, and a woman who if (it wasn't for the afforementioned friend being in my life again) I would have probably not had the chance to be with. It is definately rather cosmic. I am also going to miss a lot of other people. But, cry not everyone. Things aren't all bad for me. I will be going back to school, rejoining the likes of Esker and the rest of the gang from Kappa Sig. Back into the hustle and bustle of SJSU life. Caitlin will still be a part of my life. And I will always have the constant that is THE DAILY FARMER. But hey, I still have some time left. So look out for this last chunk of summer. I plan on making it too incredible for words. Peace...
