Note: I handwrote this post while on vacation, and have posted it chronologically.

Winter Wonderland

A cozy "hello" to you all from picturesque Bear Valley, California! I just returned from a second day of skiing the mountian and I will admit, my legs are a tad bit tired. You would think that after Hello Dolly, my legs would be better conditioned. But alas, my wuss genes came into full effect and I had to end my day a little early. But I got in some great runs, including an unintentional run down a black diamond...

I had a great time on the mountain, and I am having a great time here at the cabin with Keith, Emily, Nick, Mark and Emily's parents; Joan and Doug. Actually, Joan has the quote of the week...

"Ohh look, (pointing out sign on the side of the road), they have rock slides here. Thats nice. Rocks usually don't have much to do."

I must say, she is an interesting woman. A great mother to Emily, but still has the edge to tell Keith to shut up, or flip me off if I am a smartass. Gotta love it. Anyways...

I'll admit, I am enjoying being away from the stress of my life back home. Not really what happens there, more along the lines of the general noise of life. I am really soaking up the silence here. A much needed retreat. The journey here was interesting though...

Keith, Nick and myself didn't arrive here until 2:15am on Saturday morning, after leaving San Jose at 10pm Friday night, thanks to a few wrong turns, and a short stop in Hayward to get Nick's cd player. So, after only four hours of sleep, and Keith waking the rest of us up with his bare ass, we all hit the slopes first thing in the morning and spent the better part of eight hours up there. The conditions were cold, clear, and perfect. Great day. We came home to rest, have dinner, and watch Bruce Almighty. Then a nice full nights sleep. This morning, I revelled in the fact that I got to take the first hot shower I'd had since Friday morning, since Keith, Nick and Mark used up all the hot water the morning before... Baaa....

As for this evening... dinner, a good book (thanks Mel!), and another full night of sleep. Being up here is really clearing my head, and my lungs! Such clean air. Unlike home in San Jose; mmmmm, air you can chew... Well anyways everyone, I hope all is well in your world. I come home Tuesday, lord only knows what time... Talk to you all soon. Peace...

Just One More

Just wanted to gush about a few more additions to my musical library. I just went to Best Buy and got two little gems for the collection, thanks to Becky giving me gift certificates there... Bad Religion - Generator and Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies. Happy me! More ammunition to take with me to Bear Valley. Awesome. I needed some Irish in my music.... Well, I am off to rock out and then off to ski! Whoa, 6 posts in 36 hours... jeeez. Peace...
A Quick Announcement

I am off to Bear Valley with Keith, Emily, Nick and Mark until New Years Eve (just in time to party!), so I probably wont be posting until I get back. I hope you all have fun and I will see you all on New Years! Peace...
Coming Down

After a rather nice Christmas, its now time to go out and spend all those gift certificates, take down the decorations as soon as possible before we get too used to them and end up leaving them up till mid January. Everyone knows how it is, that tree just might end up staying up till I go back to school if something isn't done about it soon. Ohhh, random tangent... Three posts yesterday... Thats very Derrick like....

As for today, I will be off to use my Best Buy certificates. I think I may end up being there for awhile. I don't really know what I want! Ohh well... I'm just gonna be one of those people that browse for like three hours and only buys ONE cd...

Shoplifter?

Hm... maybe not... Not my gig. I am evil in different ways... Anyways. I hope all of you had a great Christmas. And hey, drop me a line... Sewwiously... Peace...

Hat Trick

Resurrected the old TDF Cast Quiz, its in the links section. Scroll down and check it out... In other news, I sure hope to get out of this house. I am way too happy to stay home now that everyone is gone. I wanna share my happy vibes with some friends... Peace...
Perfection

I must say, I think I have achieved an almost nirvana-esque level of happiness.

Prime rib, dumplings, mushrooms, and an ice cold Corona. I feel so good... aside from the 12 year old and 10 year old behind me in my room bickering over a video game. Grrrr. Ohh well. I am very full, very happy, and just generally pleased with life right now. Aint Christmas grand? Peace...
The Gift Of Music

Merry Christmas Daily Farmerians! I gotta make this one quick, much to do before company arrives. The ol' boy made out like a bandit this year thanks to my brother's girlfriend Becky.

Got the Red Hot Chili Pepper's Greatest Hits, Rush LIVE IN RIO, and The White Stripes Elephant. And a $20 gift certificate to Best Buy. Awesome. More music to buy! So yeah I am happy. And I am out! Peace...

Marathon Man

Hello hello everyone. It's been quite an amazing weekend I must say. Each night, a party, or two. Lots of good times, a few awkward moments and a little drama, but it is to be expected. I guess I better recap, huh?

First off, Caitlin's birthday party at a hotel. Great times with old acquaintances from the summer with Melanie and Ceara. Playing "ten fingers" (wow, i was out quick), realizing we had one person from just about every ethnic group in the room along with a gay guy, so we just had to start cracking a lewd joke here and there. All good till they pulled out the Irish jokes... Well, about 2:30am, Melanie and I decided to go for a walk around the hotel just to chit chat. Well that little walk lasted over three hours. I must say, that was the best talk I have ever had. It reaffirmed how close she and I are. I believe I mentioned the word "serendipitous" before. I hold to that. Well, we finally went to bed about 6am, then woke up at 8:30 to start cleaning. Finally I got home about 11am, and slept till 5. Then it was up to shower and go to ANOTHER party in Morgan Hill.

This little suaree was the production of Debbie from Hello Dolly. Awesome time. Great food, full bar, and I do mean A FULL BAR. It was incredible. Got to see the old cast again, seeing as its been two long weeks since I have seen most of them. It was great. I made an early exit to head over to Jared's 21st bday over in Saratoga.

I got there, and things were already jumping, and things were already tinged with drunken adolescent drama. Long story short, I had fun with the few people who weren't embroiled in drama. Met (hopefully) a new bud in a girl named Lore. I hope she actually calls me today. She was pretty damn cool. The drama escalated into the early hours of the morning. By 1:30am, I was completely sober since I hadn't drank in 3 hours, and didn't drink much in the first place. So I offered my services as a designated driver, which was laughingly turned down by some stupid 16 year olds who thought they could drive... Whatever. I wasn't going to waste my energy on them.

Ahh, Sunday. I slept in late to recover a little so I could be nice and chipper for Melanie's Hanukkah dinner. Incredible food, great wine, and Melanie's family is wonderful, and I got a present! Mel got me the book Wonder Boys by Michael Chahon. Awesome. She rocks. I headed home about 8pm, and watched Two Towers, then headed off to bed. But when I looked out my window, I saw this red car blocking my driveway. Just sitting there... Puzzled, I went outside to see who it was. There were two teenagers in the front seat just making out there, in my fucking driveway!! I walk up and ask what the fuck they are doing, the guy says "umm, just chilling dude..." Well dumb ass, you can go chill elsewhere. Then they drove off..... Random.... Bt hey, I am glad I went outside, cuz I found a note on the hood of my car from two old friends. Madeline and Roya.

Paul-
Roya & Mad
miss you!
Merry Christmas!

So cool and random. I feel loved. Hopefully I can lasso them today to go out for coffee or something. And on that note, I am off to get my day started. I raise my glass of pulp free, low acid orange juice to a great weekend. Peace...

Pack Up Your Bags

Howdy everyone. Coming at you from my own desk in my room, in the midst of the Christmas Decoration Blitzkrieg, its little old me. I have had a rather uneventful week since finals ended on Monday. But it has been a welcome peace... I have been napping a lot, sleeping in, resting, being lazy... well aside from Wednesday when I did five loads of laundry and actually cleaned my room. I did have an awesome time at the Fairmont with Jenn and Derrick and crew. Good conversation, some Bailey's Irish Creme and other "happenings" made for a fun evening. But, every other night has been ended early by my falling asleep at around 9pm. Feels good though...

As for last night, it was another evening at The Brit. This time, I finally got to see RoShamBo play. They are a bitchin cover band, nuff said biatch. It was a pretty good time aside from the stuck up broads that frequent that place. I swear, you cant even say hi to a girl without being glared at or cock blocked. Weak sauce... On a funny note, I may have mentioned a guy who quit Hello Dolly a week before we opened with some really weak excuse, after he had missed a lot of rehearsals and was generally a self-centered little flake... Well, lo and behold, he was there, weak excuses and all. Had to laugh at him a little for freaking out when he saw me. The proverbial "ohh shit"... Gotta love it...

But the highlight of the evening was chilling with Dave, Not Lenny's producer and all around weird dude. He has a new folk-a-billy project he is making, which sounds really good. The best part had to be him just making up songs and lyrics on the fly. Such as a song bitching about air travel....

(said in growling, monotone voice)
Pack up your bags, Pack up your bags
Go through security, Go through security
Sit by the crying baby, sit by the crying baby
Eat the bad salsbury steak!!!!

In the midst of laughing my ass off, of he suddenly flew into a new song....

Iiiiiiiiiiiiii've gooooooot skaaaa chops!!
Iiiiiiiiiiiiii've gooooooot skaaaa chops!!
I haaaaave two caaaaaars!
I haaaaave two guitars!
And a third that has twelve strings!!
Which is the number of women who have shown me their things!!!
Iiiiiiiiiiiiii've gooooooot skaaaa chops!!

So yeah, I now have a slow driving punk anthem. The Anthem Of The Farmer. I will have to get that recorded somehow. Well everyone, I have quite a day ahead of me. I have to get some things taken care of before a party tonight. Then another party tomorrow... Good freaking times. Then dinner with Mel on sunday... major good times. Peace....

You Shook Me All Night Long
"You Shook Me All Night Long" (by AC/DC)
'Cause the walls start shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it and you -
Shook me all night long.

Waiting for Dick

Good morning everyone. I hope you all slept well, lord knows I did not. After what was supposed to be a full night in Santa Cruz with a friend of mine (cut short due to fatigue), I decided to go to the Kingshead for a brew and see who was around. Sarah, a friend of mine who is a server there had been called in for the busy evening, so it was rad to see her. After a jack and coke, I bailed to Off The Hook to see who was over there.... answer: NO ONE. Denise made me my usual kamikaze and I decided again for the third time to go home. But once again, the clock nagged me with the fact that I was about to go home at 11:30 on a Friday night. I couldn't in good conscience end my evening that early.

I pick up the old cell phone and call my friend Chenoah and I meet up with her and her friends from the band Rochambeau. Good times had by all... even BETTER times when I noticed a few old high school buddies had walked in. Stephanie Bertron and her friend Amber and a few other peeps who I hadnt seen since graduation. Great times. A long evening of drinks, girls kissing, catching up with old friends. About 1:45 am we decided to go to a guy's house to play pool with another group of people that wanted me to join them... (they kept calling me "English Major" because I had mentioned it earlier in conversation.) The only problem is one of the girls in the group had lost the key to her car, which for some reason she had taken off the keyring... So we had to search all of The Brit for it, to no avail. So, we finally call AAA, and they tell us they are sending Dicks Automotive to help us. I felt bad leaving these people all alone without a ride, so I stuck around. Needless to say, with everyong being pretty buzzed, aside from myself who was so tired that I was just as aimless in my conversation, we just passed the time with really bad jokes...

"Dammit, I wish Dick would come faster!"
"Where's that Dick?!?"
"Dick sure is taking a long time, I guess its cuz its cold outside..."
"Cmon... this shouldn't be too hard for Dick."

Finally, at 3am, he shows up and opens the car for us. The girls get their purses and lock the car up so they can get it when they get another key. I take them all home and I finally, at 3:30am, over five hours after I had intended on going home the first time, I come home. Im cold, tired, my shoes are muddy from walking across a grassy median in the parking lot at the Brit, which despite the recent rain here in San Jose, still had its freaking sprinklers on... Jesus.... So yeah. Fun evening. But as for today....

MEL IS COMING HOME!!!!!!!! I am gonna go get cleaned up. I am not all too sure when she is coming in, but I wanna be ready! Peace...

You are Form 0, Phoenix: The Eternal.

"And The Phoenix's cycle had reached
zenith, so he consumed himself in fire. He
emerged from his own ashes, to be forever
immortal."

Some examples of the Phoenix Form are Quetzalcoatl
(Aztec), Shiva (Indian), and Ra-Atum
(Egyptian).
The Phoenix is associated with the concept of life,
the number 0, and the element of fire.
His sign is the eclipsed sun.

As a member of Form 0, you are a determined
individual. You tend to keep your sense of
optomism, even through tough times and have a
positive outlook on most situations. You have
a way of looking at going through life as a
journey that you can constantly learn from.
Phoenixes are the best friends to have because
they cheer people up easily.

Short Of Breath

Yes, I know. I havent been the most dilligent person about posting as of late. But honestly folks, it would just be the same old song and dance every time. I am stressed. School is really taking it to me, life in general is as well. But at the same time, its those wonderful moments amidst all the chaos that remind me that life truly is worth living.

The show has been going great. Full houses, wonderful fans, a lot of great compliments from people young and old, in the biz and not. I really feel like I have found something I can grab a hold of and do something with. I have barely been in this community for half a year, and now I have been offered a part in A Chorus Line, without even auditioning. Add to that; I am Asst. Stage Manager for the show. Not bad. I am pretty happy. I am really enjoying the slow steady progression that has been layed in front of me. I just want to work my way up, and I am being given a great opportunity to do so. Everyone in DOLLY has been great. Complimenting my performances, worrying about my injuries, checking on me to make sure I am ok and generally being so supportive of this new endeavor. I appreciate it so much. I am really looking forward to seeing a lot of the same faces from DOLLY in A.C.L. Michael, Tony, Chenoah, Caitlin, Peter, and all the staff will still be around. And, add to that I will get to meet a great group of talented performers and begin to expand my network of friends in this community. I can't wait.

But before I even step foot on stage for WVLO again, I will be working as a stage dresser for Dreamgirls at AMTSJ. Rock... Get to dress beautiful women and get paid for it.... very nice. But mostly, I am looking forward to getting to know these AMT people so I am not that much of a stranger if I audition someday. I emphasize... someday.

Away from the stage, life is just the same. Hectic, stressful, but with little oasis' of happiness here and there. But I am happy now. Anyways, I have a little something for all'o'yall to check out...
