Encore

Yet again, I was on tonight as Tom Sawyer. Went really well I think. I am beat though. Headin to bed so I can be ready for tomorrow's show. The usual Tom should be back, so I will be back to my old parts again. But I'm gonna play it safe and rest up! Peace...
With A Name Like Sawyer...

In true 42ND Street fashion, the understudy went on last night. You guessed it, I was on last night as Tom Sawyer for Big River. Our usual Tom was sick and couldn't even make it to the show at all. So now, I am also on alert for tonight and tomorrow's show. It went really well though. I nailed the songs and harmonies. I just needed to settle in a little more. It was sorta hard though seeing as I never got an understudy rehearsal. So it was the first time for a lot of things last night. First time with the songs on stage with lights, the scenes, the props the dancing. Flew by the seat of my pants... But hey, my family and friends who came really liked it and said I did a great job. Which includes my Niamh who was in the booth as usual.

Well, I am off to clean and scour my script for tonight, just in case. Peace...

Danke shein

I see how it is. I have sneezing attacks all week, which lead me to think that I was just having bad allergies. Of course, now that I have a show tonight, I get a headful of crap that I am desperately trying to get rid of so I can actually sing tonight. In the meantime, I am slamming ThroatCoat Tea, DayQuil and watching Ferris Beuhler. I bet there is probably some freakish drug interaction warning between ingesting acetomenophin and watching Mr. Rooney...

Hmmm... Anyways...

As for tonight, I just need to keep the pipes up long enough to do a good show for Denise and Meghan who are coming out to see the Young Fool in action. Good times. I'm off. Peace...

Frenzied Farmer

Wow, life is busy. I have performed seven times in the past five days for Big River (4 in 40 hours) and Company One (3 in 18 hours). Just a little worn out over here. But my girl Niamh has been a great anchor for me. She sure helped this weekend when I lost my voice. It was quite a battle to make my voice do what I wanted it to do during my songs and such. Amidst my worry, I remembered that I was getting my voice checked Monday.

Results: No nodes, no polyps. Just irritated by stomach acid and overuse. So, rest and antacids is my ticket to vocal health. I hope.

For now, it's time for rest. Too bad theres a cat lounging in my bed. Peace...

New Territory

Being comfortable in ones surroundings is nice, but stepping out and exploring can be beneficial.

Of what could be I be speaking of? The Farmer is auditioning for an Italian opera. Yeah, you heard me right. Can you believe it. West Bay Opera is doing a production of Lucia De Lammermoor and they need some more men, so I said "Why not?" and threw my hat into the ring. I have an audition on Tuesday night. But not until after I get my voice scoped on Monday.

The ol' pipes haven't been feeling like they should, and my voice teacher has advised me to get them checked out just to be sure. So, I get to have a camera stuck up my nose and down my throat so they can look at my vocal cords. Yuk. Yours Truly will be in need of some serious sympathy after that.

For now, it's showtime tonight! Lani and Keriln from STEP are coming to see Big River tonight, and I am way too stoked to finally have them see me do what I love to do! Of course, Niamh will be there lighting me up for all to see. Its great having her around. Ohh, if you get a chance, go see Merrily We Roll Along at SCP. Good production of a bad show in my opinion. The cast was great, but the show itself wasn't written well. I can see why it wasn't so hot on Broadway. Big ups to Geri, Greg, Elana, Byron, Jen and everyone else for great performances! Take care all! Peace...

P.s. Look to your left, and you will see my new niece! Ain't she cute?! Born on Wednesday, but I just haven't had the time to get the word out! Seriously proud uncle over here! Peace...

I'm Gonna Get You A Pizza

Cool...
~People who open a spot to merge, or stop as they are driving in your direction to let you turn left even if they have a line of cars behind them.
~People who hold doors open for you.
~People who say "thank you" if you hold the door for them.
~People who smile and say "hi" for now reason.
~People (one in particular) who always have time for one more kiss before they go.

Not cool.
~People who cut you off just so they can save 20 seconds on their commute time.
~People who throw their beliefs upon you.
~People who criticize your hard work regardless of your feelings.
~People who are just plain mean to the point that you wonder, "How can you do that and sleep at night?"

Big up to all the cool people out there. Off to have dinner and watch my Seven Brides DVD with Chenoah. Peace...

Insert Banjo Music Here

A little something to make you think.

Kerry VS Bush: State Avg IQ and How They Voted.

Hmm. Peace...
Vocal Karma

Ok. Let me see. I came home early last night. Didn't go out. Didn't drink. And still, the voice is giving me so much hell today that I couldn't go to my audition for Great America. Lame... Now I am just hoping that I can pull it together for tonight's show.

As for the rest of today, I already spent a grueling hour defeating the forces of Dr. Wily and his evil robots in MegaMan III. So, I think I deserve some rest. I may be forced to do battle again later. Peace...

Deep Healing Breath

Ahh, a moment of calm in an otherwise very hectic day. Tweaked my ankle in Jazz class, have a performance for Company One tonight, and for some odd reason I am just plain tired. So now I am on the 4th floor of the library, which is the proverbial slum of the building. All the homeless people and your average vagrants come up here to use the computers for god-knows-what.

It feels good to sit, but I sure hope my body can amp up for my performance. The first public incarnation of Dick Darlington. God help all those poor souls in the audience. They may get cheesied to death. (I love making up new words.)

Life is good in general. Show this weekend, seeing Niamh as much as possible, and enjoying my evenings off from the insanity that is my stage life. But for now, I'm gonna keep this one short and sweet. Hope you all are diggin' the Farmer-Cam. Lemme know with a comment. Peace...

Now You See Me...

If you notice, to your left, I have added a FARMER-CAM feature to the site. Now you can see the stressed out carny that is The Farmer. I will update it with a fresh shot sometimes a few times a day, sometimes with each new post, or whenever the spirit moves me to or something cool comes up to show you... Peace...

Bright Lights

Ahh, Opening Night. Can't wait to just do it. So sick of the methodical hum-drum rehearsals, the building and tweaking of the show. I just want to do it. My auto-pilot is so ready to take over. I am so ready to take a break after this production though. Not that I don't love this show, and the people, but I am a bit worn out from doing so many shows in a row. George M!, Hello Dolly, A Chorus Line, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Jesus Christ Superstar, Big River, Some Of My Best Friends, Who Wants To Be An Apprentice Dreamdate Idol Survivor?, and The Witch Of Blackbird Pond. Its been hectic. But I love it.

As for tonight, I plan on having a great show, and a few glasses of champagne and schmoozing my little heart out with the crowd, with Niamh by my side. Totally love that woman.

But right now, its shower time. Peace...
